Biodiesel refers to biofuel in particular diesel fuel made from biological material from vegetable oil or animal fat. Biodiesel can be used in different mixing ratios together with fossil diesel, but can also be used 100% pure. At Biofuel Express we have to kind of biodiesel HVO100 Renewable Diesel and B100 Biodiesel RME.

When changing to 100% B100 Biodiesel RME, you should be particularly aware that the vehicle should be specially adapted to avoid operating problems.
B100 Biodiesel RME and HVO100 Renewable diesel are both fossil free alternatives to conventional diesel, but are produced by two different methods and follow two different fuel standards:
Biodiesel RME is based on plants (typically rapeseed), is a 1st generation biodiesel and meets the standard EN14214 for biodiesel.
HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is based on advanced raw materials such as residues and waste.
HVO is a 2nd generation biodiesel and meets the standard EN15940 for paraffin fuels.
1st generation biodiesel (B100 Biodiesel RME) is based on plants – usually rapeseed – and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 70%.
2nd generation biodiesel (HVO100 Renewable Diesel) – also called advanced biodiesel – is based on residual products and waste – usually from slaughterhouses, fish factories and cooking oil – and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90%.
When converting to fossil free fuel, the storage tank and the vehicle tank must be drained completely, as these can contain free water. This is especially important if you have chosen B100 Biodiesel RME. If you have been driving on fossil diesel for a long time, we recommend ordering cleaning of the tank to avoid bacterial growth and operating problems.
Apply water finding paste to a dipstick and check if the paste becomes discoloured. Water finding paste can be purchased on various websites. Make sure that the gasket in the manway cover is whole and intact.
B100 Biodiesel RME is generally cheaper than regular diesel. Right now there is a price difference of around SEK 3.6 per liter (including VAT) in Sweden, which can vary greatly depending on market developments (updated November 2022). Therefore, B100 biodiesel is both an advantageous choice both in terms of economy and climate.

In the production process of B100 Biodiesel RME Premium has methanol been used. Methanol can be both fossil and fossil-free. Biofuel Express uses 50% biomethanol as standard in the manufacturing process, to ensure a larger share of biomass, and thus an improved climate yield. Fossil methanol constitutes a maximum of 0.02% of the final product of the fuel, whereas the biodiesel standard EN14214 imposes a maximum value of 0.2% methanol. B100 Biodiesel RME is also offered 100% fossil-free, where pure biomethanol has been used. You are welcome to contact us for further information about the product.
It is possible to use 100% B100 Biodiesel RME Premium in all RME-adapted diesel engines. Our biodiesel is specially developed for 100% operation, manufactured through a Swedish-patented after-treatment process. This means that the biodiesel is much cleaner than most RME qualities on the market, and better adapted to Nordic winter conditions.
Up to 70% of CO2 is saved compared to regular diesel by changing to B100 Biodiesel.

B100 Biodiesel RME complies with standard EN14214 for biodiesel.
The collective name for biodiesel, produced by esterification, is FAME and stands for Fatty Acid Mehtyl Ester. FAME can be made from most vegetable oils, of which rapeseed oil has the least proportion of saturated fatty acids and is therefore most suitable for cold climates. Biodiesel, which is produced from rapeseed oil, is called rapeseed methyl ester, or RME. Read more about B100 Biodiesel RME.

Although B100 Biodiesel RME is more sensitive to cold temperatures than regular diesel or HVO, it can be used down to -20C. Our biodiesel is of the highest quality in the market, which means that it is well adapted to Nordic winter conditions.

HVO100 Renewable Diesel is biodiesel, as it is diesel made from biological material. However, it differs from 1st generation biodiesel (B100 Biodiesel RME), which is made from vegetable material, where HVO100 Renewable Diesel is primarily made from residues and waste.
HVO100 Renewable Diesel is in general more expensive than regular diesel. However, the price can vary a lot depending on the market. Right now, the price difference is about 1.19 SEK per liter (incl. VAT) in Sweden (updated March 2021), as it is expensive to manufacture. But it is, of course, an additional cost that has been well spent in terms of the environment and the climate.
Hydrogen, which is partly derived from fossil natural gas, is used in the production of HVO100. Hydrogen itself should not be defined as a raw material but is used in the chemical process to remove oxygen from the fatty acids that make up the renewable raw material base. There are therefore residues or traces of fossil origin in the final product itself. The share is temporarily very small – less than 1% – exactly 0.8% based on the statement from the Swedish tax authorities. The figure is public information, and one that Neste reports to the Energy Taxation Directive, when the full energy and carbon dioxide tax is paid for the part of HVO100 that cannot be fully derived from pure biomass. HVO100 Renewable Diesel is made from renewable and sustainable raw materials and has up to 90% lower CO2 emissions. In addition, HVO is odourless and emits fewer local particles than regular diesel.
“HVO” is a chemical copy of regular diesel that works at least as well as conventional diesel. HVO100 Renewable Diesel has a density lower than MK3 Diesel. On the other hand, the cetane number (diesel oil octane number) is better for HVO100 Renewable Diesel than for MK3. There is no difference to your fuel economy.
Yes, you can. HVO100 Renewable Diesel is fully mixable with regular diesel.
Biofuel Express’ HVO100 Renewable Diesel is made of about 10 different raw materials, among other things. animal fat, waste from the food industry, recycled cooking oil, waste from the fish industry and residues from food oil production.
